Coffee

Much like the history of our treasured American Buffalo, our story is one of resilience. When I was laid off from my job in 2020, I turned adversity into a 10-year coffee roasting hobby into a career. I wanted Iowans to enjoy great coffee! I bought a fluid-bed roaster and became one of the few Iowa-based roasters to use hot air, resulting in a more even roast and clean coffee, free of hydrogen sulfide. I also combined my passions for coffee, cycling and the environment and began making bicycle deliveries around Des Moines. On occasion, I can still be seen in my signature orange shirt and helmet delivering coffee via bicycle. I sell bagged coffee beans online and in over 20 retail stores across the Des Moines metro area, including Ames, Grimes, Waukee, Urbandale, West Des Moines, Cive and Des Moines. Coffalo Coffee has participated in farmers markets including Des Moines, Valley Junction and Ames.
